Tips on Running a Charity Golf Day
Are you organising a golf day to fundraise? If so, to make it a success, here are some tips on running a charity golf day.
* If you are running the event to fund raise for a particular charity or cause, check first to see if you need to apply or make request to fund raise.
* Check out to see if you qualify for the Sticky Tickets charity rebate, and apply early. If approved and acknowledge Sticky Tickets as a supporter of your event, you can claim up to 20% of booking fees for the event, which is all money going back to the cause.
* Look into the agreement with the golf club. Ensure you know the cost and responsibility of hiring the course, and ensure they can cater also for pre or post game functions. You will also need to use tables for registration and display of prizes.
* Look into getting an MC or celebrity players for the event. By getting them early, you can include it in your advertising.
* Work out your prizes. You will need prizes/trophies for winners, and also for novelty events and raffles etc. Consider having prizes for fun events (best dressed team etc), and work in advance to get as many prizes as possible donated
* Choose the date carefully. Ensure there are no other golf days around the same time, and also no other competing events. Also ensure you provide enough lead time for people to plan the day in plenty of time.
* Budget. Consider the costs of the golf club, as well as any other costs (advertising, flyers, prizes etc), and work out how much you will charge for the event, and what will be included. Drinks, golf cart hire, etc?
* Think of additional ways to raise money on the day. Some suggestions are; raffles, activities that require gold coin donations, and getting ‘hole sponsors’, where you ‘sell’ holes to local businesses for sponsorship.
* Promote and advertise the event well. Set up your event page on Sticky Tickets, ensuring you have all the information required by potential attendees, such as rules of the game, and the style of play. Also use the custom forms to get all the information you need on the players, such as their contact details, handicap, and who will be on their team. You can even take donations. Use local sport and golfing stores to promote the event, as well as the golf club where it will be held. Use social media to also get the message out there, using the contacts of all involved.
* Once again try and ask local businesses to donate items for goody bags, or even vouchers.
* Ensure when all is said and done, that you thank and acknowledge everyone involved in the event, and all supporters.
Good luck!
